A few weeks ago, I mentioned that Mark had given me a sneak preview of a stunning French bed he had found along his many travels. Well, I am happy to now be able to post a picture of it, along with some new items he has in stock.
The bed is still painted in it's original off white paint, with accents of grey. Mark very cleverly chose a natural linen to re-upholster the bed and a stunning duck egg blue braid. I shall be very sad to see it go - I shouldn't imagine it will be around for long!

Mark also spends a lot of time sourcing furniture, he pulled up outside his shop last week with a van full of amazing pieces, all of which I would love to have in my home. His latest finds are posted below!

Joyeux anniversaire!

Millie and I both celebrated our birthday's this week. My constant companion was born the day before my birthday. Sadly we both seem to be growing old and grey together. Mo appeared on the day with the most stunning bouquet of delphiniums and a chocolate covered hip busting cake! Emma sent me a huge display of my favourite peonies. I am normally the kind of gal that hates celebrating another year older, every year my mother sings "Happy Birthday" to me - it's great but so out of tune it usually raises a smile, and the flowers were so beautiful that I found myself entering into the spirit.
The evening was spent at a wine tasting, and the most delicious meal at the Globe in Chulmleigh.

Eni will be celebrating it's sixth birthday in August - it seems incredible that we opened the doors six years ago - time certainly does fly!

After lots of incredulous gasps from friends and customers and much deliberation I have decided to embrace Facebook and Twitter. My reluctance mainly stemmed from not having enough time to keep up with the Eni Journal, let alone post on a regular basis. As soon as I announced to Mo that I was bowing to the social networking era she very kindly reminded me that she now had authority to remind me to blog, poke and tweet at least twice a week!

A marriage of a different kind

Well, while most of the world was glued to the royal wedding, I was involved in my own match making. For some time, South Molton has gained a reputation as a magnet for discerning shoppers to find small independents shops offering something a bit different. Now it has another shop called 3°Degrees West, run by Mark (who like me runs at the mere sight of a camera!) His shop is crammed full of stunning furniture and homeware.
Currently he has a range of bone and mother of pearl furniture that would make any woman weep, as well as pretty painted desks, wardrobes, wire fronted cabinets, linen embroidered chairs, french sofas, lamps as well as decorative metal pieces, hand painted mugs, vintage candle cups and so much more.

I was very honoured to be asked to be involved with some of the buying for the shop - soft furnishings are becoming a passion of mine. What's a girl to do when she is asked to go shopping???
I chose some classic striped linen and cotton cushions, very similar to Ian Mankin's fabrics, along with some floral favourites. A great friend of mine is also supplying Mark with bespoke linen printed cushions and her hugely popular embroidered monogrammed cushions, all of which are flying out the door! On my many trips to India I saw some amazing hand embroidered wool throws from Srinagar which have also been very popular. All of Mark's furniture is unique and he has had a fantastic response to the shop. If you click on the Eni logo at the top of my blog, you can see a small selection of furniture currently available. He has the most beautiful antique French bed (I was lucky enough to see a preview)which will be in next week, which I would love(hint, hint) Mark has somehow managed to persuade me to feature his furniture on my website (it's not often I get charmed!!!) and we will be updating it on a regular basis.

Congratulations to Maisie of Crediton who guessed the boats secret location, Crow Point. A spotty scarf in this seasons nude is on it's way to you! I know it wasn't an easy one - many emails to that effect telling me off!

Spring Competition

It's that time of year when I go out with my camera, searching for new locations to photograph our new collections. Usually I find them with Millie when we are on one of our "don't know where we're going, but I like it" walks.
Sometime ago we came across an abandoned boat lying on it's side. Of course I had to climb aboard and inspect the sea washed wood - the colours are amazing!
Weeks later, I decided it would be the perfect place to take some photographs of the new scarves that had just arrived. As luck would have it the sun was shining and a light breeze was in the air, so Millie and I got in the beast and drove to the boats location. While I set about tying up my washing line, Millie ran off towards the dunes.
As you can see the pictures were rather successful and I have decided to run a competition based on the boats location (didn't you notice my reluctance to mention where it was?)

Where's Millie?

Mille and I love to go walking, usually it's a quick march around our local park after work. The weekends are when we can find a beach somewhere and wander for hours. Last weekend we found our self at Bucks Mills climbing over the rocks and discovering remanants of fossils. Bucks Mills is known for it's lime kilns and the stunning views of Bideford Bay and Lundy Island. It has been almost over a year since we last walked on the beach there, every time we go we seem to be on our own - undiscovered haven - you decide!

The largest fashion trade fair in Europe took place last week in London, as you can see it's a big event. I had to lean over the balcony of the fashion accessories and shoe hall to take this picture, hoping that the entire contents of my handbag didn't spill out over the unsuspecting visitors below - thankfully I didn't embarrass myself.

Mo and I spent most of the day drooling over stunning hand beaded gowns that would make any woman feel like a Hollywood star.

We have so much fun choosing our collections, and this season is no exception. We have found some luxurious Italian knits, beautiful silk dresses and lots of gorgeous day wear which will fit into your wardrobe effortlessly. We think you'll love it, and don't worry the Eni mantra still remains, great quality but at affordable prices!

Stupid Cupid

Valentine's was a bit of a wash out this year. I usually receive an anonymous declaration of love from my mother - who then fains surprise when I thank her for her card! This year she is travelling in Southern India, enjoying Mojito's in the Imperial Hotel in Delhi, before her wild adventures begin. Meanwhile I was up in London walking around the largest fashion trade fair in Europe feeling rather sorry for myself. It was late when I got home, and there on the shop counter was a single red rose. I tore open the attached card and the card read "To my gorgeous girls, lots of love Emma" xxx

Emma is a wonderful, and quite batty friend who owns the most beautiful flower shop in South Molton, simply called "The Flower Shop"

When Emma is not lying on the floor giving Millie kisses and cuddles, she creates the most stunning floral arrangements.

So this is for you, Millie and her beautiful rose - thank you!

Welcome to Eni

Welcome, to the Eni blog!
We will be celebrating our sixth birthday in August, it's quite frightening to think how quickly time has flown by and the changes we have seen. I was looking at some photographs of when we first opened, we were obviously going for the minimalist look at the the time, we have just had a facelift and everyone agrees the shop is looking great.

Much has changed, lessons have been learnt but I can honestly say I still love coming to work everyday. Eni has a loyal army of wonderful women (and men but mostly for important dates like birthdays and valentines) and I still get a tingling feeling when I see someone leave the shop with an Eni bag, tied with our beautiful signature ribbon.

Based in the historic market town of South Molton, Devon, the gateway to Exmoor, Eni opened it's doors almost six years ago. If you come into the shop there will be three friendly faces to greet you. There is Morele, (that's me) owner and gift wrapper, Mo who tells anyone that will listen that she is my slave - personally I prefer the term "my right hand". All I will say is that everyone needs a Mo, and last but not least is Millie my border collie who works six days a week meeting and greeting everyone that comes in to the shop.

So introductions out of the way, I hope that the Eni blog will keep you vaguely amused as well as up to date with news, events and with gorgeous new products that are continually arriving.
